The basic idea

Where do we stand?

The world is changing at breakneck speed.
The longing for a sense of security, on the other hand, is universal.

Taking a piece of home with you or bringing it back: this is possible through food, but also through other odours that unexpectedly flood the limbic system – just like sounds and music, scents and smells from childhood are often remembered for a lifetime and are linked to specific emotions.
Whether we had to leave our culture or simply left the place of our childhood at some point – everyone knows these moments of inner security.

The project

Some scents take us back to our roots – with the concert “ICH ERINNERE MICH … EIN DUFT VON HEIMAT” we have embarked on a journey between folk song, soundscape and motet and brought these memories back to life.

The result is a cosmopolitan evening about the small happiness of the inner home – or the longing for it.
A mixture of apple pie and mouldy wood, oriental spice bazaar, sea air and the scent of asphalt after a warm summer rain.
A sensual melange of “fragrant” texts between folk song, jazz, nouvelle chanson and motet – choral music meets string trio, percussion, jazz piano and electronics.

Where are we going?

A project in motion

“I REMEMBER … A FRAGRANCE OF HOME” is an open concept that is constantly being updated and continued with new participants. Get in touch with us!

We have collected memories of scents. Calls from all over the world came together over a period of months.
The resulting recordings are a kaleidoscope of dreams from young and old people; from those who stayed at home, those who returned and those who had to leave their homeland. Each of them has their own, unmistakable “scent kitchen”.
This has resulted in soundscapes that run like a common thread through the entire concert.

The idea is to create a unique kaleidoscope of thoughts at each location and for each concert. New recordings can be made in preparation and woven into the respective concert.
