SABINE LÄSSIG, voc

tells amé toki's stories. She writes the lyrics and collects sounds.

„When I met Midia, she was living with her children in a reception centre in Berlin.
Is there a wish we can fulfil for you? she was asked.
The answer was unexpected and shockingly simple:
To finally cook and eat like at home again.

A few weeks later, a huge meal was cooked in the school kitchen of our primary school for all the children from the home and the school. Many hours were spent shopping and preparing - and then something completely unexpected happened:
As the aroma rose from the pots, Midia started laughing.
The woman, whom I had never seen smile once before, stood there and forgot all her suffering for a moment over the scents of her homeland.

That afternoon, I decided to collect stories like hers and tell them one day - not as a reminder, but as a reminder of how beautiful life can be and how the past and the forgotten can wash over us without warning.“

CHRISTOPH SELBACH, p & keys

Composer and arranger. He writes the music to the "fragrant" lyrics.

„The diversity of memories and the possibility of their peaceful coexistence was a great motivation to help create this programme.
In my view, one's own homeland can and should never be an exclusive space, just as little as the insistence on only one - possibly even one's own - idea of what the term "homeland" can mean.“

STEPHAN LUTERMANN, dir

Conductor. He holds the music in his hands.

„The question of one's own homeland is one of the central issues of our time. Almost 100 million people worldwide are currently on the run. But even without the need to flee, only 6% of people in Germany alone live in their place of birth. So what is home for modern, mobile people? Is there a musical home? What can a concert look like that brings home to life? Together we set out in search of the possibilities and longings for these questions.“
